SCE will host an informational workshop, Commitment to Educational Access and Student Success, on Monday, November 28, 2016 at the Anaheim Campus Board Room.The workshop will be offered twice – at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. – and will provide an opportunity for SCE students, staff and faculty to gather information and ask questions about educational access. Interim Provost Valentina Purtell and NOCCCD Chancellor Dr. Cheryl Marshall will reaffirm the commitment that SCE and the District has to equal access to education for all community members and dedication to non-discrimination. The Public Law Center and Orange County Communities Organized for Responsible Development (OCCORD) will share information about Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), immigration appeals, and citizenship documentation preparation. Public Law Center, OCCORD, as well as educational and mental health counselors will be available to answer questions and provide information to attendees following the workshop.
Students, staff, and community members are encouraged to ask questions in an anonymous form posted on the SCE website. The questions will be addressed at the workshop.
SCE has always been a recognized leader in advocacy, especially for the most underrepresented students and those who need additional support. We will continue to seize every opportunity to let the voices of our students be heard and to shape policies consistent with our core value of inclusiveness.
