Accreditation

SCE is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools (ACS), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). SCE received initial accreditation in 2008 and received full accreditation in 2011. Our teamwork in 2011 acquired a full six-year accreditation cycle, no midcycle review, and no warnings. The WASC visiting team was quoted as saying, "SCE is a model school!"

Having gone through a significant revision, the final draft of SCE’s accreditation self-study was approved by the Board of Trustees on January 24, 2017. The final version includes additional SLO assessment data, substantiates statements and conclusions included in all evaluation criteria, contains links to all cited evidence, and incorporates many photos depicting the process of self-study and other related activities.

An unprecedented number of the SCE team members attended the Board meeting in support of the school. Provost Purtell thanked everyone for volunteering their time and for demonstrating the SCE spirit. She noted that the presentation turned out to be a celebration of SCE and its contributions to our community.

The next onsite visit by ACS WASC is scheduled for March 20-22, 2017.
